Women and Youth Empowerment
Women of Justice club is a women led organization founded in 2015 to empower women and youths through farming, savings and skills training, women’s rights and sexual health rights, and health care and education. Justice in the name is acronym for Justness, Unsparing Strategies Through Innovative Community Empowerment.
Women of Justice works with women and youths by educating and empowering them to pioneer change and innovation in Zambia. It is determined to change the world by mobilizing the power of women and youths against poverty, coming up with lasting solutions for homelessness, and maternal and child health.
Womens' rights and Sexual health rights
In Zambia, experiences of vulnerability resulting from violation of human rights are common, especially among women and girl child. Despite existing laws put in place to protect human rights
HIV/AIDs
HIV prevalence rates vary considerably within a country, for developing countries like Zambia; poverty, Mother-to-Child transmission, sex and intravenous drug use are leading causes.
Homelessness
Roughly, 1.5 million Zambian children live on the streets either due to being orphaned or due to extreme poverty. Most of the children on streets are orphaned due to HIVAIDs. However, older adults above sixty years are the fastest growing age group experiencing homelessness, composing nearly half of homeless population.
Skills training and Savings
Most women and youths in Zambia are financially illiterate. Financial illiteracy is one of the greatest sources of poverty.
Poultry Farming
Poultry Farming is a lucrutive business in Zambia, and is a great source of income. There are three kinds of chicken widely rared in Zambia; Village chicken, layers and broilers.
Agriculture
Agriculture is driver of Zambia's economy. Its rich maize produce is also distributed to neighboring countries. Women of Justice also participates in Maize crops and grows trees to support earth's green economy.
HIV/AIDs in Zambia
1.4 million adults aged 15-49 living in Zambia are HIV positive and 1.1 million are on treatment. HIV prevalence is highest in Copperbelt (15.4%) and Lusaka (15.1%), Western (10.6%), Central (12.4%), and lowest in Munchinga (5.4%). there is an increase of about 0.31% each year, 28,000 new cases of HIV among adults. And 51,000 - 60,000 new cases among children.
Skills Training and Savings Project
We work with the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services to teach women and youths financial Literacy skills to help end poverty. Most women and youths in Zambia are financially illiterate. Financial illiteracy is one of the greatest sources of poverty.
Poultry Farming
Our poultry farming project has benefited over 542 people, most of its beneficiaries are women and youths. And it continues to keep youths from participating in vices such as theft and prostitution because benefits obtained every circle empowers them with money for tuition or capital. The organization has managed to train 72 women and youths in poultry farming, most of them now run own poultry houses.
